Have you ever been to a Christmas tree lot and picked a seed? Of course not! You pick the tallest and fullest tree they have. But as any Kindergarten student can tell you, that beautiful tree was once a small tiny seed.
You see, a Christmas tree seed is not ready for lights and ornaments, or even a trip on the roof of a car…but some day it will be. Our children are the same…but I do not advise strapping them down to the roof of your car! 😆
We know in our family that our two little boys aren’t ready to fully comprehend the Christmas story and appreciate the greatest gift sent down to Earth for us.
However, mama and I know that if we continue to share this story every year with our children, they will begin to grow in their faith and truly appreciate
the true meaning of why we celebrate Christmas.
That’s why we decided to create this Christmas devotional for our family.
This Christmas Devotional breaks down the Christmas story into small bite-size increments to help us take this journey with our children one little baby step at a time!
Some may ask, “Why not just read a simple version of the Christmas story? Why drag it out for 30 days?” Our answer is simple, and is given in a way that Jesus usually answers questions…with a question.
Does a farmer water a seed once a month and hopes it grows tall and strong? Seeds and saplings need continues attention, nourishment and love every single day. So do children.
If we want our children to grow strong in their faith and understand the true meaning of Christmas, then it will take time and dedication.
Let’s give our children the gift of our presence and full attention this Christmas season by finding time everyday this month to share a little part of the story that changed the world.
Let’s show God that our seed has fallen on good soil and raise our children to be Christ-followers.
From our family to you. Merry Christmas and thank you for joining our family in this amazing journey of exploring our Savior’s birth.
